The QAA have published a second edition of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications: England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ) and a new companion publication Higher Education Credit Framework for England: guidance on academic credit arrangements in higher education in England.   Further details can be found in the Quality Handbook (http://www.soton.ac.uk/quality/framework/qaa_nqf.html)

This is a new step-by-step guide for tutors, taking them through the whole process from arrival in the room to collecting the handsets at the end. It incudes advice on how to deal with typical problems, such as some handsets not working. It takes about 5 minutes to view – avialable via our Zappers page

Another PowerPoint template suitable for teaching has been been made available via our website. The new one has a green/blue title page and pale grey content pages, similar to the style that must be used for external presentations. Again, the design is optimised for accessibility and prints well in black-and-white.

Note that these external-use templates can be found via the SUSSED Services tab on the Communications website. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to link to SUSSED so you’ll have to find them the hard way.

LATEU recently hosted a Good Practice Lunch for the Centre for Language Studies entitled ‘Prepare for Success’ Julie Watson from the CLS gave a presentation about this new online University of Southampton created resource aimed at International Students (although all students could benefit from some of the materials).  Based on a range of interactive activities through a web site, staff were able to view how they could be used and also have a go themselves.  The Prepare for Success web site was a UKCISA funded project and is available nationally.

Good Practice Lunches are regular educationally focussed events. If you would like to attend the Good Practice Lunches then please ask to be put onto our mailing list.
